The Outback Kitters Adventure Rails MAX is our next-generation roof rack system, designed from the ground up to be easier to install, lower profile, lighter, quieter and a hell of a lot cleaner than your average roof platform.
We didn't grab an off-the-shelf extrusion, bolt some side rails to it and call it innovation. The Adventure Rails MAX uses our own purpose-designed aluminium extrusion, vehicle-specific mounting system and integrated accessories to create a roof rack that actually looks like it belongs on your truck.
The MAX uses a single one piece mounting foot design to dramatically reduce the amount of measuring, lining up and second-guessing required during installation.
We've also redesigned the mounting system to give pop rivet guns more room to work, making this one of the most installer-friendly roof rack systems we've produced.
Less measuring. Less swearing. More time actually using the thing.
Downward-facing side lights are included as standard.
Instead of lighting up half the campground, they throw usable light directly beside the vehicle where you're setting up camp, loading gear or trying to find whatever you dropped in the dirt.

Every Adventure Rails MAX includes:
Standard front wind deflector
Light bar wind deflector
Swap between them depending on your setup.
The wind deflectors are also designed specifically around each vehicle to provide clearance for factory aerials and GPS antennas rather than pretending those things don't exist.
The aluminium extrusion used in the Adventure Rails MAX isn't something we found in a catalogue.
We designed our own.
It features channels across the top, front and rear for mounting accessories while the underside is enclosed to help eliminate the wind noise commonly created by open extrusion channels.
Even better, the crossbars are bolted through the top of the rack rather than being bolted through the side rails.
That means the sides stay clean and uninterrupted instead of looking like the crossbars were added as an afterthought.
Two Platform Plates are supplied with every rack, giving you additional flat mounting area for larger accessories or equipment that doesn't conveniently line up with extrusion channels.
Because eventually everyone wants to bolt something weird to their roof.
The MAX side rails feature extensive weight-saving profiling to reduce the rack's overall weight without compromising the strength of the structure.
Why?
Because every kilogram of roof rack is one less kilogram of gear you can legally put on top of it.
And yes. Kilos. Kilograms. Not Pounds.
A typical Adventure Rails MAX weighs approximately 23kg, depending on the vehicle application.
Technical term.
The Adventure Rails MAX structure is engineered well beyond the typical roof load limits of the vehicles it's designed for.
But the important number isn't how much weight we can pile onto the rack in the workshop. It's how much weight your vehicle manufacturer allows on the roof.
As a general rule of thumb, many vehicles have a roof load rating around 100kg.
If your vehicle is rated to 100kg and your MAX rack weighs approximately 23kg:
100kg vehicle roof rating
23kg roof rack
= approximately 77kg remaining payload
Always refer to your vehicle manufacturer's specific dynamic roof load rating before loading the rack.
We've kept the MAX tucked down as close to the roof as possible while still maintaining clearance for applicable factory sunroofs.
Apart from looking substantially better, the low profile helps reduce overall vehicle height for garages, shopping centres and underground carparks.
Yeah. We see you city slickers trying to squeeze your lifted American truck underneath a 2.1m clearance sign.
We also don't believe airplane landing strips belong on your roof.
Of course we thought about you fancy-pants with sunroofs, wanting to soak up a bit of sunshine while you drive.

The Adventure Rails MAX add only 125mm to your roof height - measured from the centre of your roof, where the front & rear passenger doors meet.
